University Height Community Center

Mr. Rich has served as a Board Member and Subject Matter Expert for Architecture and Historic Preservation at the University Heights Community Center (www.uheightscenter.org) since 2016. UHeights, as it is affectionately known, is the former University Heights Elementary School in the U-District in Seattle, WA. Built in 2 phases in 1902 and 1907, the Spanish Revival style wood framed 20 room school building was purchased by UHeights in 1990 and converted to use as a community center.

As a Board Member, Mr. Rich stewards the building balancing the multiple needs of the occupants, staff and visitors with the capital project planning and guiding maintenance of the building. Mr. Rich shares his knowledge with the staff to help them learn how to become good stewards of the building and to follow best practices in preservation.
